Climbing
Simone Salvagnin
I was born in Schio (VI), at the foot of Monte Pasubio, and from a young age I was surrounded by the mountains and nature, developing coordination, senses, and reflexes while playing among rocks and forests. At the time, I could not have imagined that these early movements would become a true training ground for life: at 13, I was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative retinal disease that has been my companion ever since.
Through sports, expeditions, and life experiences, I realized that limits are not a destination or an endpoint, but simply a starting point. Driven by insatiable curiosity, I explored myself through mountaineering and climbing, and for the past 15 years I have been an athlete on the Italian National Paraclimbing Team, Blind Category 82. I have also served as head of the Paraclimbing sector at FASI and IFSC.
I have pushed my own boundaries through adventures across Asia, South America, and Europe, tackling the Andes, the Alps, and the Himalayas, reaching nearly 7,000 meters with the ascent of Salado in Chile. When I’m not engaged with the National Team or competitive projects, I immerse myself in high-intensity human experiences in nature, delivering motivational talks, workshops, and outdoor activities.
My mission is to bring people into close contact with nature and their own bodily perceptions, showing what is possible when you rediscover your physicality and redefine the concept of “limit,” opening up opportunities that were once unimaginable.
"While there is still little left to explore geographically, the vastness of the humang being lies within each of us, still waiting to be traversed, crossed and mapped."
