Sustainability

A journey built on solid steps

MONTURA

has always been

on a journey.

A journey in constant search of new ways: exploration, innovation, responsibility, and listening.

Choosing the right direction today also means reflecting on the impact every one of our actions can have on the world. That’s why, for some time now, we’ve been rethinking our processes, our choices, and our way of doing business.

For us, sustainability is not a destination to reach, but a journey in constant evolution—one shaped by attention, awareness, and responsibility. It means designing with care, reducing waste, protecting people, measuring what we do, and striving to improve every day.

Our first Sustainability Report was born in this spirit: not as a formal exercise, but as a tool to share where we are and where we want to go.

With transparency. With commitment. With the desire to do our part.

Searching for a New Way

At Montura, innovation also means rethinking the way we do business.

Searching for a New Way is not just a motto - it’s a daily commitment: to seek new, fairer, and more sustainable solutions, in balance with people and the environment around us.

Growing Ethically

We believe in a business approach grounded in responsibility, ethics, and care for people and the environment.
That’s why, in 2022, we launched a Strategic Sustainability Plan, led by the B Team—a cross-functional working group that involves all company departments.
The plan includes more than 120 initiatives, ranging from supply chain management to product optimization, from employee well-being to responsible communication, and the strengthening of community ties.
The goal is to integrate sustainability in a concrete and harmonious way into the company’s values and daily activities.

A shared Journey

Engaging our stakeholders is an essential part of this path.
During retail and sales meetings, we gathered valuable feedback from over 60 participants, listening to their ideas and perceptions on key sustainability topics.
This open dialogue has helped us shape more conscious and forward-looking strategies.

Every step leaves a mark. Together, we can leave a positive one.

We Own the Product

We directly manage most of our production, from design to manufacturing.

At our headquarters in Zanè (Vicenza), we develop prototypes and coordinate our supplier network.
Here, the R&D department focuses on researching fabrics with specific technical features, working closely with partners to develop, test, and optimize material performance. Over 60% of our garments are produced in Moldova to high quality standards, thanks to a reliable and independent local team. The remaining production is outsourced, but closely followed through every stage of design, development, and testing.

For us, quality and durability are essential to combining sustainability with performance - even in the most extreme conditions. In our R&D labs, we rigorously select and test every material, ensuring long-lasting, dependable garments. Each component undergoes intensive testing to guarantee lightness, protection, breathability, thermal insulation, and elasticity—offering comfort and safety to all users, from beginners to experts.

This is our way of doing things: with care, expertise, and vision.

We call it Made in Montura.

Editing

We believe in the value of education, culture, and freedom of thought as the foundation for protecting and nurturing all forms of life. That’s why we continuously invest resources in cultural and social projects, placing people - especially the most vulnerable - at the center.

These initiatives come together under the name Montura Editing, a cultural laboratory and publishing house active for over twenty years, with more than 100 books published and 200,000 copies distributed. It supports solidarity projects both in Italy and in remote areas such as the Himalayas, Mongolia, and the Andes.

Montura Editing also supports independent cinema, promoting films that tell the stories of distant communities and territories.

The goal is to foster knowledge and respect for mountain regions and their communities, highlighting the deep connection between people and the environment. Montura Editing is an expression of the ongoing research and innovation that define the whole Montura project, expanding our awareness of the world and the many ideas that shape it.

Our commitment to the Climate

We believe that a company born in the mountains carries a responsibility towards them. Our commitment to the environment is not a policy decision, but a deeply personal call to action. Glaciers retreating, seasons shifting, routes disappearing: those who spend their lives on the mountain see the signs of climate change before anyone else. That is why, alongside the quality and durability of every product we make, we are working to understand, measure and reduce the impact we generate — across our operations, our production, and our supply chain.

Starting in 2023, we mapped our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from both our headquarters in Zanè and our production facility in Moldova — a first, honest baseline from which to move forward. In 2025, we extended that measurement to Scope 3, bringing our entire value chain into the picture.

These steps are meaningful, but we know they are not enough. That is why we have formally applied to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) - a globally recognised standard that aligns corporate emissions reduction commitments with the latest climate science and the 1.5°C pathway of the Paris Agreement. In the coming months, we will submit our targets for validation, setting a clear and credible course for how Montura takes responsibility for its climate impact.

Supported by a team of environmental engineers, we are defining and putting into action the concrete steps to deliver on the following ambition: a 40% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, and a 20% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2035. These are demanding targets — and that is precisely the point. We are committed to breaking them down into real, measurable actions across our operations, our production and our supply chain.

This is not the end of a process — it is the beginning of a more rigorous one. Like any demanding route, it requires preparation, honesty about where you stand, and the courage to commit to where you need to go.

We are ready to take that step.
